Opened in 1980, Michalis Taverna is a family-founded, traditional Greek taverna nestled in Kampi, Zakynthos. What began as a humble passion for authentic flavors and memories of grandma’s kitchen has grown into a beloved local institution.
The heart of our taverna is family. It started with grandma’s treasured recipes, lovingly handed down and perfected over the years. Today, the torch has been passed to Michalis and his wife Vaso, who lead with warmth and a deep respect for tradition. They are joined by their son Dionysis, working side by side to keep the family’s culinary legacy alive.
Our recipes are cooked with love and crafted from the best locally sourced ingredients. Each dish tells a story of Zakynthian heritage—simple, honest, and deeply flavorful. From fresh seafood caught daily to garden herbs and olive oil pressed from nearby groves, every bite connects you to the land and the sea.

Our menu is a love letter to the island’s rich culinary tradition. Popular choices include our slow-roasted pork belly, tender Zante rabbit, and shrimp pasta — alongside a carefully chosen selection of fresh fish and seafood, all paired with excellent local wines.
Much of what you taste comes directly from our own land — meat from animals raised on our own farm, including rabbit, lamb, and pork — a commitment to quality and provenance that has never wavered since the very first day we opened our doors.
